2025 Senior Citizen/Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption

Applications for the 2025 property tax exemption for senior citizens and disabled veterans are now available. You can access the application online at www.craigak.com or in person at City Hall, located at 500 Third Street, Craig, Alaska.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be 65 years old by January 1, 2025.
  • Proof of residency is required.
  • Applicants must be eligible for the Permanent Fund Dividend.

This exemption applies to the first $150,000 of the assessed property value of your primary residence and permanent place of abode. Please note that previous applicants must reapply annually to maintain the exemption.

Please provide the following documentation to receive a property tax exemption:

  • A completed property tax exemption application.
  • A copy of your Permanent Fund Dividend receipt or proof of its deposit.
  • For first-time applicants:
    • Proof of age (birth certificate or driver’s license).
    • Disabled veterans must provide proper VA documentation (50% or higher rating).
  • A copy of the deed showing ownership of the property for first-time applicants. The property must be owned by the applicant and serve as their primary residence and permanent place of abode. If applying for a trailer, provide proof of ownership.
