PUBLIC NOTICE - BOIL WATER NOTICE IN EFFECT FOR CRAIG

10-2-2024 Boil Water Notice

UPDATE:

10/4/2024 Update, 3:01 pm: Public Works has completed repairs of the broken water main and has closed up the excavation at the break site. The PSN Road in this area is now fully open. Crews took water samples today and has sent them off to the lab for testing. As soon as those test results are sent from the lab to DEC, DEC will lift the boil water notice. We will post information here and at the Craig City website with updated information when this notice is issued.

Staff is hoping to receive DEC approval to lift the boil water notice by late afternoon 10/5/2024.

IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE 10/2/2024:  Due to a major leak in the waterline the overall system pressure has dropped to below DEC standards. As a result DEC has issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice. This is per DEC protocol, there is no known contamination in the system currently.

Crews are working to repair the water line break and restore pressure. Once pressure is restored water samples will be tested. We expect that the DEC notice will be lifted late this week or this weekend.

The city will continue to provide information here and on the City of Craig website and the city Facebook page.

We received additional information from the Division of Environmental Health, there is a link attached below for the Food, Safety & Sanitation Guidlelines to follow in regards to the Boil Water Notice here in Craig.
