Craig Dispatcher in the Dispatch Center

The Dispatch Center is the initial contact for all Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Dispatching through the 911 system.

The Craig Dispatch Center provides services to several agencies on Prince of Wales Island. Among those services include 911, Police, Fire and EMS dispatch for the cities of Craig and Klawock, the Alaska State Troopers, and U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement.

Six dispatchers provide 24-hour 911 dispatch services for the communities of Craig and Klawock. Additionally, dispatchers also provide clerical and record-keeping support.

Craig Dispatchers are a professional and efficient group of dedicated people who serve as the main link between our community and public safety services. Craig dispatchers receive 3 months of intense training under the supervision of a seasoned dispatcher before being allowed to work alone. Through good communications they are able to provide the quickest and most appropriate response to emergency calls as well as routine calls for service.
