Patrol and Investigations

Craig Patrol Officer and vehicle

Craig Officers are responsible for a variety of functions. Traffic enforcement, patrol and security, criminal investigations, crime prevention, evidence collection, community programs, just to name a few. All officers are uniformed and drive clearly marked vehicles. You can be confident that all of our officers are well trained. New officers receive up to four months of formal police academy training and three months of on-the-job training with a specially trained field-training officer before they work on their own. We also provide regular in-house training on a variety of topics important to a successful and safe officer.

Like most rural Alaskan police departments, Craig PD is a small department. Because of this, Craig Officers handle a variety of regular patrol duties and investigative duties on a daily basis, working closely with other law enforcement agencies on Prince of Wales Island.

Working closely with the community, Craig Officers help provide not only a safe community, but a great community in which to live.
